Bomb-, explosive- and mine detection dogs, drug dogs and service dogs.

StorOslo Sikkerhetstjeneste AS did in 1995 try to get a permission to do services with explosive detection dogs and drug dogs in Norway. This was dismissed by the department of Justice, with the reason that only police, army and custom services could store drugs and explosives. It was never the meaning that we, as a private company, should store any of these drugs or explosives. It would be stored by the army and all training was meant to be done at the dog training school. As a result of the answer we got from the department of Justice, we started the training of our dogs abroad the same year.

Now and then we have these dogs in service here in Norway, but all training, development and leader skills are being done abroad.Dogs we use now and then here in Norway are being brought in from Sweden, and those dogs are mainly in the category bomb- and explosive detection dogs.Today we have 26 dogs, diverted in to thirteen bomb- and explosive detection dogs, 8 mine detection dogs and 5 drug dogs. These ads to the service dogs, which counts 11 and are used for guarding services. (In our terms service dogs are dogs that are used due to the companies' verification program (Approval program) for service dogs. For example: rounding, defence, patrol, field search, guarding etc.)By time the group has become an international environment and counts 20 leaders that come from Sweden, The Netherlands, Germany, England, Switzerland and Norway. We are also expecting 2 from the USA.
Leaders reside from 7 to 12 months in Africa.

Our Clients are mainly (In the full meaning of the word) regimes who wish to map all mine areas, search through planes and searching for drugs.
We would like to mention that we do not give/offer our services to countries that are connected to war, riots, disturbances etc. We have such speaking only a defensive role.StorOslo Sikkerhetstjeneste AS is one of four companies with the same owner constellation, but as one by one functions as interdependent companies. We contribute with some of the administrative like recruiting and in some cases with uniforms etc. In addition we contribute with some of the instructors.Dogs are being bought both in England, The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. In Norway we prefer Rottweiler from The Netherlands and German Shepherds from Germany. We have also tried local dogs, but have not had any success with any of these so far.We do try and test difference breeds continuously.

Rottweiler and German Shepherds are so far the best all round dogs, but we do have relative good experience with German Doberman and Weimarmer. We have also notices American Staffordshire terrier, Australian and Azores Cattle dog and Cane Corso, which all are special in their fields. We have further tried breeds like Argentine dogs, Fila Brasileiro and Portuguese guard dog, which have surprised us in a positive way-but those dogs are difficult to find. The same goes for Bordeaux dogs and Neapolitan mastiff, which we have not yet tried, but are waiting for testing. Most of these dogs are not allowed imported to Norway and a lot of other countries. Luckily, we have been able to use these in some African Countries.
