About StorOslo Sikkerhetstjeneste AS

StorOslo Sikkerhetstjeneste was established in 1991 and has grown to become a large provider of dog services, which is our place in the guard market. Every one of our guards works with dogs. Today we have 30 units and at the end of the year it will be about 50 units. Our instructors are mainly picked from the military dog school where they were working earlier. Today we have a close cooperation with foreign countries to make sure our services are developed along with the needs of society.

In the first two years StorOslo Sikkerhetstjeneste AS used mainly policemen. We now also use persons that have quit the police because of the demands from the Oslo police department.

We can see the importance of dog services in a number of recent arrests. Between January 1997 and April 1997 there were an average of three arrests each week. These arrests were done directly on the scene, or because of fresh track marks the dogs had picked up. All persons were delivered to the police for further processing. One cannot compare the dog's fantastic tracking ability with that of a human. We have proved this several times in different demonstrations. Recently we had a demonstration where six people were sent to find 3 hiding suspects in an area with buildings and open ground. Two people were found within an hour, the third one was never found. The dog found the last person in one and a half minute. As a bonus to our speed and efficiency, the dog has the preventive effect of making strangers think twice before going into an area protected by guard dogs. By taking a look at our references witch all have guard service with dogs, except our reception service during daytime. References are given both by mobile and stationary guards showing that dogs are useful in indoor and outdoor situations.
